QUEENS, NY — Cops are looking for a thief who smashed the windows of more than 50 taxi cabs in a spree of break-ins between Ridgewood and Middle Village.
The robber has broken into 57 parked vehicles since Dec. 23, all but one of which bore Taxi and Limousine Commission license plates, police said. The crook made off with credit cards and electronics in six of the break-ins.
Police said the window smasher has targeted cars parked in Queens from Myrtle to Flushing avenues, and Forest to Cypress avenues.
The NYPD released video surveillance on Wednesday of one of the break-ins along Seneca Avenue, in which the suspected smasher hops out of a light-color four-door sedan and breaks the rear driver-side window of a black 2017 Toyota Camry. The thief fled the scene empty-handed.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
